One (1) Huperzia goebelii “Eagle Nails”
A stunning species with bluish-green-turquoise color. It can grow over 2 meters long but has a slow growth rate. The new growth is much more closed and “claw” like than regular goebelii.
Huperzia goebelii “Eagle Nails” can be grown upright in a hanging basket. The fronds will become strongly pendant as it acclimates. Does best under partial shade with careful watering. They should be watered only when the substrate has become mostly dry. It cannot be left in standing in water.
Huperzia is derived from the name of Johann Peter Huperz (1771-1816), a German botanist and fern specialist. H. goebelii is named after Karl von Goebel, a German botanist whose Organographie der Pflanzen (1898–1901; Organography of Plants, 1900–05) clarified the principles of the science of plant morphology in relation to form and structure. We should use the word organography more.
