Four (4) Stylidium debile (Fragile Trigger Plant) — flowering size rosettes
🌸⚡ Small, strange, and interactive — the Fragile Trigger Plant is famous for its rapid-fire flowers that literally “smack” visiting insects with pollen!
During bloom, this fascinating Australian species produces tiny pink flowers with a sensitive trigger that snaps forward when touched, dusting insects with pollen — one of the coolest pollination tricks in the plant world 🌿✨
While often debated as fully carnivorous, the flower stems can become slightly sticky during the blooming season, helping trap small insects. Because this trait isn’t constant year-round, it’s sometimes called “proto-carnivorous” — but no matter what you call it, it’s an incredibly fun and unusual plant to grow.
Expect compact rosettes about 1–2” across, already at flowering size, that will quickly multiply and fill in their pot 🌱
They will ship bareroot in a plastic bag. You will need to pot them up in carnivorous plant–appropriate soil. They do excellent in 100% peat moss — perlite and long fiber sphagnum are not needed.
They grow in full sun, a bright windowsill, or under grow lights. With strong light, they can bloom nearly year-round indoors 🌸
We flood them in about 2” of water at the beginning of the month, then allow the water level to drop most of the way down before watering again — do not let the substrate fully dry out. This wet-dry cycle works very well for this species.
Misting with diluted MaxSea fertilizer about 2x per month will help encourage frequent blooming 🌸
They do not require a true dormancy but may die back if exposed to cold outdoor conditions, returning vigorously in spring.
Due to schedule and safety, live plants ship out ONLY on Mondays.
