One (1) Nepenthes veitchii – intermediate – assorted clones: BE-4087 LARGE
This species is a top favourite for many growers. Endemic to the island of Borneo where it usually grows as an epiphyte, it produces magnificent pitchers, with hugely flared peristomes. Pitcher bodies have a wonderful velvety texture and peristomes vary a great deal in colour – ranging from pink, through gold, to deep brown. Sometimes peristomes are a single colour, and others can be candy-striped. There are endless variations that often don’t become fully apparent until plants mature.
We believe this to be the first ever artificially bred highland-lowland Nepenthes veitchii. We class it as ‘intermediate’, since it grows easily and in a much wider range of temperatures than either the highland or lowland forms.
Origin: Horticultural, bred by Borneo Exotics.
Source: A random selection from a large number of different clones. The female parent is the Bario form of N. veitchii, which is a highland variety and this particular parent has a green pitcher body with rust-red peristome. The male parent is the Sungai Samba form of the species, which is a lowland variety and it also has a green pitcher body with rust-red peristome.
