One (1) Nepenthes ‘Dark Secret’ : BE-4656 MEDIUM

This carefully selected cultivar is already a proven winner, with tens of thousands sold in Europe prior to its launch to the hobbyist market in Feb 2025. It’s attractive, easy to grow, temperature tolerant and a prolific producer of stunning wine-red pitchers.

The correct scientific name of this cross is Nepenthes ampullaria x sibuyanensis.

  • This is a highland-lowland cross and is classified as an ‘intermediate’ growing item, so it flourishes in a wide range of temperatures. We find it grows best in our lowland facility, between about 32 deg. C (90 deg. F) in the daytime, down to 24 deg. C (75 deg. F) at night, although it also grows in our intermediate-highland nurseries which go down to 12 deg. C (54 deg. F) at night.

Photo(s) are provided by Borneo Exotics and are representative.  Plants may or may not currently have pitchers.

Ships bareroot. Roots will be wrapped in sphagnum moss, but you will need to provide your own pot and more potting substrate when the plant arrives. Extra care will be needed as the pre-order plants will need to be acclimated slowly to your conditions. This means low light and high humidity. Check out this video that I helped write for the ICPS on “How to acclimate your carnivorous plants.”
