N. spectabilis x veitchii: BE-3664 LARGE
This highly spectacular cross is particularly rewarding, as it’s easy to grow and produces large showy pitchers with gorgeous peristomes. Although quite variable in appearance between individuals, we’ve yet to see one that isn’t lovely! The photos show examples of several intermediate and upper pitchers. Unlike with many Nepenthes, the upper pitchers on this cross seem to remain just as colourful as the lowers.
Origin: Horticultural, bred by Borneo Exotics.
Source: A random selection from a huge number of different clones. The female parent is a selected clone of our amazing giant N. spectabilis, sold under BE-3178 and the male parent is a selected clone of the Bario form of N. veitchii, sold under BE-3205. This item differs from BE-3636 released in Aug 2014, in that it’s from a different grex of seeds using a different male parent.

Climate: Highland. We grow it between about 26 deg. C (80 deg. F) in the daytime, down to 12 deg. C (54 deg. F) at night, although it will certainly tolerate temperatures well outside this range.
