This hugely impressive species never fails to attract attention, with its broad, heart-shaped leaves and enormous, tough pitchers. A reliable and adaptable grower, this particular plant is likely a lowland or intermediate form, producing large, extremely robust woody pitchers.

Source: Donated in-vitro by Singapore Botanic Gardens (hence ‘SBG’). Exact provenance is unknown. While likely a lowland form, it grows well in highland conditions, and is designated an intermediate grower.

Plant size is random and based on availability after pre-orders are fulfilled. Most plants will be medium to large, as that’s the majority of what we’re importing. Small plants are rarer and typically more expensive—so if you receive a small, you’re still getting an excellent value.

This carefully selected clone produces velop basal rosettes when larger, creating the look of a carpet of pitchers with few or no leaves. It’s easy to grow in acidic media, provided it has warm temperatures, perpetually moist roots, and high humidity.

The pitcher body coloration is reminiscent of N. ampullaria ‘Harlequin’, with a mostly pure lime-green peristome and occasional maroon striping in high light — a truly striking feature. Hence the name Nepenthes ampullaria ‘Lime Twist’.
